Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1 banana, preferably frozen
  • 1 scoop of Chia Seed
  • 12 ounce of coconut water
  • 4 tablespoons of LOCAL honey
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter or Almond Butter

If you ever want to surprise your loved one with a romantic getaway, I highly recommend Blackberry Farm. It is charming, the food is simply divine, and the customer service is impeccable.

Recently the farm sent an email advertising their Wellness Month events and included this smoothie. Of course, we had to try it. Everyone needs a smoothie that gives you a boost of energy. The chia seeds are rich in omega 3′s, the nut butter ( I used almond) provides protein, the strawberries and blueberries are loaded with antioxidants and brain boosting vitamins, the banana has much needed potassium for your muscles, and the coconut water hydrates your body and mind.

The honey, especially local honey may help with your allergies and prevent sinus infections. If you are having a lot of issues with all the pollen in the air, I recommend trying my Cinnamon and Honey smoothie. There are plenty of foods you can add to your smoothies to help your body remove the inflammation due to all the pollen and allergens in the air.

Enjoy this smoothie recipe. It is delicious!

Directions

1) Open the coconut. I highly recommend a fresh young coconut and here is how you open it. Pour the chia seeds in the coconut water and let sit for 5 minutes.

2) Add the Blueberries, Strawberries, Banana, Peanut or Almond butter, Honey, and Chia/coconut water blend. It is best if one of the fruits is frozen so the smoothie is cold. Frozen ripe bananas work really well in smoothies. Puree until very smooth.

Blackberry Farm also stated “this recipe is easily frozen (in covered container) and enjoyed days later. Simply remove from freezer before going to bed on night before. It will be perfect and ready to consume in the morning.”
