Ingredients

  • 1/2 to 1 inch piece of Turmeric root
  • 1 handful of cranberries
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 lime, peeled
  • 2 cups coconut or spring water

Looking for something to boost your immune system or help digest all the yummy food you are indulging in this holiday season? This turmeric shot gives your body everything it needs to stay well. It really works. My son had the highly contagious fever bug so we all drank a glass or two a day and nobody else got sick. Plus, his fever would drop after taking it.

The cranberries aids digestion, the turmeric fights inflammation and relieves pain like aspirin, the lime is loaded with vitamin C to boost your immune system, and the honey is a natural antibacterial and sweetens the shot.  If you are new to fresh turmeric, start with a 1/2 inch piece and add more each day. We use about a 1 inch piece for every 2 cups of coconut or spring water. You can find fresh turmeric root at Whole Foods and many farmer’s market.  It is a bright orange root.

Try to take this shot at least 3 or 4 times a week even after the holidays.  It can help with back pain, heal injuries, reduce effects of Alzheimer’s, and prevent cancer because of the amount of turmeric.  Eating turmeric instead of popping pills will save your liver too.

Directions

1) Blend 1 handful of cranberries, 1 peeled lime, 1/2 to 1 inch long piece of turmeric root, 1/4 cup of honey and 2 cups of coconut water or water.  Taste and add more honey if needed.  Toast to good health.  Enjoy!
